As part of Pride is a Trans Led Protest!, Homotopia invites you to take part in a creative and collaborative workshop contributing to the Trans Unity Quilt, a large-scale, community-led artwork bringing together trans people and allies across the UK.
Inspired by the long history of textile art within liberation movements, the Trans Unity Quilt is a collective patchwork project, with each square telling an individual story. Together, these contributions will form a powerful and visible symbol of trans joy, resilience and solidarity. The completed quilt will be carried at London Trans+ Pride 2026, before touring across the UK.
This workshop offers participants the opportunity to create their own patch as part of this growing artwork. No previous experience is required, and all materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring a small piece of fabric with personal significance (such as from an old t-shirt or garment), though this is entirely optional.
The session is led by CN Lester (they/them), musician, academic, author of Trans Like Me, and founder and artistic director of the Barbican’s Transpose festival. Good Law Project has launched the Trans Unity Quilt Project, a campaign by and for trans people across the UK to bring joy and hope by making a quilt that will stretch over 50m long.
