To mark Transgender Day of Remembrance, join us at Crosby Library for a special, free, screening of Zachary Drucker’s Enigma (2025), which explores the life and legacy of Scouse transgender legend, April Ashley and the parallel life of the iconic ‘European Queen of Disco’ Amanda Lear. Ashley was one of the earliest British people known to have undergone gender confirmation surgery, and lived a totally singular life before returning to Liverpool to participate in early iterations of Homotopia, including a major exhibition at the Museum of Liverpool. We will also present clips from Tim Brunsden’s video archive of April, digitised as part of the Playback project.
Following the screening, we will walk to Ford Cemetery in Litherland, to pay respects at Aprils’ grave.
Doors – 12:30pm
