Creative Assistant


We are looking to appoint a Creative Assistant for 6 months to help with administrative support on our creative programmes, based at our busy Liverpool office.

Founded in 2004, Homotopia is a Liverpool based arts & social justice organisation that unites and inspires through art and activism. Our aim is to support and platform local, national and international LGBTQIA socially engaged artists and creatives. Every October/November we present Homotopia Festival, featuring a variety of LGBTQIA art across multiple venues and outdoor spaces in the city. In addition to our festival, we have a year-round programme of artist development, public artworks and events.    

You will be supporting Homotopia’s Producer and creative team, by working across all creative projects including;  

  • QueerCore: Talent Development for Emerging Artists 
  • Young Homotopia: in Collaboration with YPAS GYRO, for 16-25 LGBTQIA to write and perform theatre 
  • Supported By Homotopia: these are our commissions and special projects 

This is an excellent opportunity to gain interesting hands-on experience in the arts sector. This role is primarily based at the Homotopia office in central Liverpool, but some remote and flexible working may be required, in-line with government guidance on COVID-19. 

Tasks include: 

  • General office administration. 
  • Maintaining accurate records.  
  • Responding to emails.
  • Dealing with phone calls.  
  • Events coordination such as sourcing suppliers while working within a tight budget.
  • Liaising with artists, venue and volunteers by email, phone and face to face.  
  • Other tasks reasonably assigned. 

You will also have specific monthly 1-2-1s that focus on CV writing, goal setting, and career planning 

We will book you in on several external training opportunities relating to creating accessible art, project management, events management and arts outreach with local and national partners.

  • Be claiming Universal Credit 
  • Be registered to jobcentres in areas as determined by DWP that will be eligible to participate in the Kickstart Scheme were referred by DWP.

The rate of pay will be £9.50 per hour, and 25 hours per week. Working days will typically be Tues-Thurs, 9am-5pm. This is a six-month fixed term contract with some evening work. 

The deadline will be the 21st January 2022 at 9am   

Interview will be the week commencing 31st January 2022 

Start date will be week commencing 14th February 2022
