Open Call For Junior Facilitator

Young Homotopia x GYRO Summer Social

This summer social is a partnership project Homotopia runs with GYRO, holding workshops, rehearsals, and performances for a creative collective of young LGBTQIA people who are interested in self-expression through performance.

For our 2022 summer social, we are looking for a junior facilitator to help practitioner and associate artist Ashleigh Owen throughout the project. This is a great entry level role for someone wanting to work in the creative sector.

Deadline: 5th June, 12pm

The role:

  • Assisting the lead practitioner with the facilitation of the project as a whole
  • Planning and facilitating fun and engaging warmups each session to prepare the group for a day of creativity
  • Encouraging and guiding the group develop ideas and try out new styles of performance
  • Displaying and encouraging professionalism within the rehearsals

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is experienced in the creative arts, working in one or more artforms Has an interest in social justice and art activism
  • Understands devised performance
  • Has good knowledge of LGBTQIA culture and art
  • Is a confident, enthusiastic, and engaging individual who works well with performers at all levels of experience
  • Has strong interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, a positive approach, and respect for others
  • Is organised and self-motivated
  • Is passionate about drama and working with young people from a range of backgrounds
  • Ideally is trained in working with young people, teaching drama or the creative arts; or without formal training may have some experience in this

This project will run from 10am-6pm, Monday 25th July – Saturday 30th July in Liverpool city centre, with sessions. Rehearsals and workshops will take place throughout the week, ending with performances on the Friday the 29th of July at the Unity theatre, and on Saturday the 30th of July at LCR Pride.
