Homotopia is looking to engage LGBTQIA (and in particular trans and non-binary) creative talent residing in the Merseyside area as part of the QueerCore partnership for Homotopia Festival 2021.
We are looking for Performers for 3 pieces of work-in-development which will be performed as part of the QueerCore programme in Homotopia Festival 2021. These pieces will be exploring the trans experience, focusing on a historical trans figure, and one will be the Homotopia Writer’s award selected from the open call. There are 5 – 8 roles for actors, and over 50% of the roles will be trans or non-binary (Homotopia and the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse are signed up to the Trans Casting Statement).
We are also looking to connect with trans and non-binary directors who are interested in directing work about the trans experience.
Criteria: No formal training is required for these roles, and we are excited to hear from new and emerging talent. We strongly encourage those currently underrepresented in the LGBTQIA community, such as D/deaf and disabled artists and QTIPOC artists to apply.
Taking place between 1st – 14th November 2021, specific dates and times to be confirmed (subject to role)
Fees: This is a paid opportunity with fees dependant on roles and dates. All fees will be within Equity minimum rates.
For Performers: Please send CV and show reel to firstname.lastname@example.org with the title ‘QueerCore Actors’
For Directors: Please send a CV and short cover letter which outlines your experience and interest in directing new queer theatre work (around half a page of A4) to email@example.com with the title ‘QueerCore Directors’
We also accept audio or video submissions for the above roles that outline the key information asked for.
Deadline 9am on the Wednesday 15th September 2021
