LGBTQ+ artists, performers, creatives, producers and programmers! Join Queer Arts North for an afternoon of discussion and networking, find out about current opportunities, and pitch your work to a supportive and relaxed room.

Queer Arts North is a network of arts organisations strategically supporting LGBTQ+ arts, artists, organisations, venues and festivals across the North of England. Members include: Black Gold Arts, Cake Tin Foundation/Mother’s Ruin, Contact, Curious Arts, Homotopia, Leeds Playhouse, Northern Stage and Trans Creative.

Afternoon Schedule

1. Performance
Dancer / choreographer Adam John Roberts performs a 5-minute extract from his solo piece Outcast which explores the challenges he has faced as someone who is both LGBTQ+ and autistic.

2. Meet The Network
Meet the people behind the Network and find out about the opportunities on offer to you.

3. Discussion
Leading LGBTQ+ producers, programmers and artists discuss issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. With Cheryl Martin (Black Gold Arts, Homotopia), David Sheppeard (Malborough Theatre, Pink Fringe, New Queers On The Block), Phil Douglas (Curious Arts) and Tammy Reynolds (EAT ME + Preach!).

4. Pitch Opportunity
If you’re an LGBTQ+ artist/company/creative trying to get your work booked, this is your chance to meet venues, festivals, producers and programmers who could make that happen. Want a 2 minute slot to present your work to the room? Download a registration form here and send to ellie@curiousarts.org.uk by Fri 1 November, 5pm.

5. Networking Drinks
As the afternoon session winds down, continue the conversation over a drink in the Unity Theatre Bar.


Arts Council England Advice Surgeries

11am – 1.20pm, FREE

Prior to our afternoon session, Angela Chappell, Relationship Manager, Combined Arts at Arts Council England is offering 20-minute Advice Surgeries for any organisations, artists and companies attending the event, and thinking of applying for funding.

Advice surgeries are offered on a first come, first served basis – please email ellie@curiousarts.org.uk to book your place.
