An interdisciplinary work in progress between two transgender bodies questioning the historic & societal placement of gender and sexuality. Through each collaborators varying and contrasting expertise, including circus, theatre, ballroom and latin dance, Always Been Here is a conversation with the ghosts of our ‘Trancestors’ who have hidden themselves within the workforces of conventionally masculine trades. How can we communicate and embody humans that existed undercover for fear of abuse and violence, and furthermore, how many still do that today?

Henri T is an acclaimed documentary and performance photographer from Germany, as well as a competition winning ballroom and latin dancer. EM Williams is a midlands born actor, poet, and movement artist who’s work has taken them to three continents (so far). The foundation of both their practices lie in telling stories in ways that cradle your heart. In conversation with each other’s styles, Always Been Here aims to physically interrogate these differences in cognitive and creative processing from the artists’ Neurodiverse and Disabled perspectives. Integrating accessibility at ground zero, these work in progress happenings aim to reshape the structures of artistic practice through championing the needs of the audience on equal terms to the needs of the artists.

We’ve Always Been Here. These moments are to be experienced in whatever way you might encounter them. Come and find us.

An Unlimited UK Partner Award 2023 commission with Homotopia and Marlborough Productions with support from Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts and Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse.
