Casting Call: Trans woman needed for staged reading of new play by Tabby Lamb
As part of Homotopia Festival 2021, we are producing a staged reading of a new working-in-progress by Tabby Lamb, called The Village Hall.
We are looking for a performer to play the central role of Bernadette Peters, a 75-year-old, transgender woman who leads a rural amdram troupe.
We are looking for a trans woman with a playing range up to 75, but are open to applications from younger performers who feel they could play the role.
The Village Hall is a work-in-progress by critically acclaimed writer and performer Tabby Lamb. Read more about the play here. There is a cast of 7 performers who will be directed by Tabby.
Criteria: No formal training is required for this role, but some previous experience would be helpful. We strongly encourage those currently underrepresented in the LGBTQIA community and arts sector, such as D/deaf and disabled artists and QTIBPoC artists to apply.
You must be based within one hour travel of Liverpool.
The play will be rehearsed and performed at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool on Tuesday 2nd November.
Homotopia is proud to have signed the Trans Casting Statement and cis gendered actors will not be eligible for this role.
Fees: This is a paid opportunity and all fees will be within Equity minimum rates.
