The exhibition ‘Queerussia: the hidden (p)art’ had its European Premiere in Mooiman Male Art Gallery, Groningen, Netherlands on May 19th 2013. The exhibition has been developed in partnership with Homotopia. ‘Queerussia: the hidden (p)art’ features a selection of work by some artists that live in Russia and some as Russian refugees in the United States of America. The selection also includes photographs from the new book ‘Asylum’ by Alexander Kargaltsev (New York, USA), paintings by Sergey Sovkov (Tolyatti, Russia), photographs and videos by Serge Golovach (Moscow, Russia) Seva Galkin (Moscow, Russia) and Slava Mogutin (New York, USA). In addition, a series of photographs which were used as postcards for the magazine Colta.ru ‘Greetings from St. Petersburg’ from the project ‘A Gay Day’ by Alexey Tikhonov (St Petersburg, Russia).
The exhibition is part of the official programme of the Netherlands and Northern Russia year 2013 and will tour to Homotopia later this year.
