Join Artist Oliver Bliss during the Homotopia festival to help create a quilt which will record the 396 members of parliament that voted for same sex marriage. Each member has a hand drawn portrait created by Oliver and he would like to get as many people as possible involved by helping him decorate the portraits. He has different tools for you to get involved including paint, pastels and pictures to decorate the images. All of the images will be incorporated in to a giant quilt which will show a geographical map across the UK to showcase exactly how they voted.
This project follows the successful residency at People’s History Museum (Manchester) where audiences came together to create 254 messages towards a more hopeful and tolerant future to represent the MP’s that did not vote in support of Same Sex marriage. These messages will be incorporated into the quilt with the 396 hand drawn portraits as a map of the UK.
To take part in this historic quilt come to Unity Theatre 7th November at 6pm or come to Museum of Liverpool 8th-9th November between 10am-5pm and get involved! Oliver will also be providing other opportunities to get involved please go to www.oliverbliss.blogspot.com for more details.
