New short film commissions get their world premiere at the Unity Theatre.
Three black queer filmmakers, Sandi Hughes, Evan Ifekoya and Hayley Reid present their new short films made from and inspired by the film and photographic archive of feminist film-maker, DJ and poet Sandi Hughes.
Sandi has hundreds of hours of film and photographs that captured the marginalised and outrageous characters of Liverpool that she mixed with during the 70s, 80s and 90s. The collection has been saved, shared and made accessible to thousands across the North West as the Rewind Fast Forward project, thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Film Hub North West Central, and Liverpool Record Office.
Over the past year, Sandi has been working with Artist Collective Re-Dock on the project to support the digitisation and sharing of her archive.
The film world premieres at the Unity will be followed by a talk with the filmmakers hosted by Writer and programmer Jay Bernard.
