Tea, cake & conversation; an informal gathering with some of the original writers, cast, theatre-makers, artists and collaborators from Liverpool’s electric-eclectic queer underground of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. With Dr Jo Stanley curator & historian and Gary Everett, Director Homotopia.

Followed by a special screening of documentary ‘Ciao Brenda Ciao’.

Dr Jo Stanley is curator of Merseyside Maritime Museum’s exhibition ‘Hello Sailor! Gay Life at Sea’, is an internationally acclaimed British-based author and creative historian who focuses on the gendered seas. Women and LGBT+ seafarers are among the hidden histories focused upon in her books, articles, exhibitions and conference papers, as well as plays and talks.

Gary Everett is founder and director of Liverpool based arts & heritage organisation Homotopia. In 2013 Gary curated the ground-breaking trans exhibition ‘April Ashley, Portrait of a lady’ at Museum of Liverpool, extended twice due to popularity which attracted over 900,000 visitors. In 2015, Gary was named as someone who has made a major contribution to British contemporary art in the ‘Alternative Power List 100’ by independent online art publication Artlyst.
