FIT is a new play for young people, from acclaimed writer/director Rikki Beadle-Blair.

Tegs and Jordan are best friends, an odd couple at the centre of everyone’s gossip. Ryan and Issac are pre-occupied with who’s gay and what’s gay – and it certainly ain’t them. Lee and Carmel are feisty girls, with a few secrets of their own. Stuck together on a bus heading for a college dance contest, hormones run wild and truths tumble out as the group banter and bicker their way up the M1.

FIT is a bold new play about attempting to fit in and trying to stand out, in a culture where everything from not liking sport to wearing the wrong trainers is ‘gay’. Hip-hop dance, original music, and sparky comedy combine in a show that will entertain adult audiences and young people alike.

FIT has been commissioned by leading gay equality organisation Stonewall and queerupnorth International Festival to tackle the growing problem of homophobic bullying in Britain’s schools. Co-commissioned by Homotopia it is performed at Unity Theatre as part of a national tour of schools and theatres.

Rikki Beadle-Blair has achieved critical acclaim for hits such as Bashment (Theatre Royal Stratford East), Stonewall (BBC Films) and Metrosexuality (Channel 4).
